Kendrick Lamar
Biography

Kendrick Lamar is a rapper from Compton, California. He released his first work of art at age as young as 16 and was named “Hottest MC in the Game" by MTV. When young black gut under stage name K-Dot shared his mixtape “Youngest Head Nigga in Charge”, Top Dawg Entertainment noticed him and signed contract. He needed two more years to produce another mixtape, “Training Day” in 2005. For two years after this he mostly worked as opening act for a number of more well established rappers. One of these contacts proved useful, as Lil Wayne helped Lamar to release third mixtape. Only after this he decided to abandon his K-Dot pseudonym. Premier retail release, “Overly Dedicated” came only in 2010, and full-blown album a year later. “Section.80” popularity was stoked thanks to his large internet following among other things. Major labels were finally in line for his attention and thus “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City” album was born and became platinum. He had to wait a little bit more for his first Grammy though, which came with single “i” from well-received album “To Pimp a Butterfly”. After having nothing to do artistically after all this, he released unreleased demos of previous works in 2016.
