The last album released by The Weeknd was 14 months ago, but in the meantime two music legends died, David Bowie and Prince. The Weeknd has announced that his forthcoming album is going to be “a thousand percent” inspired by David Bowie and Prince.

The Weeknd’s album is going to be named “Starboy” and the name he chose for the album pays tribute directly to David Bowie’s “Starman”. “I just love Bowie; I think he’s the ultimate inventor”, stated the Canadian artist when asked in an interview about David Bowie.

The Weeknd’s confirmed that he had planned to have a show with Prince at Paisley Park just before he did. Worth mentioning is that the last appearance Prince made on TV was when he awarded The Weeknd with an award at American Music Awards.

The Canadian artist has also made a statement regarding the disappearance of his crazy hairstyle. He said that the main reason he cut his hair was because it became a trademark.
