Martin Garrix
Biography

Martin Garrix is stage name/English stylization of Dutch name Martijn Gerard Garritsen. Martin is a professional DJ from Amstelveen, Netherlands and was born on May 14, 1996. Being talented kid since childhood, Martin was able to play guitar when he was just 8 years old. When his parents took him to Greece to watch Olympic games of 2004, he witnessed Tiesto live event and began dreaming about DJ career. He never wasted any time, getting software for aspiring musicians – FL Studio, and began studying it. Years later, he met his idol in person and Tiesto lobbied several labels to accept Martin. When Spinnin’ Records finally picked him up, singles “Error 404” and “Animals” were released. Later he switched labels few more times, settling for Sony Music in 2016. They helped him to do two very important things at this stage of his career. First, they produced single “In the Name of Love”, which involved another young and aspiring artist – Bebe Rexha. Second, they gave him TV spot in one of most popular TV shows in United States – “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. It was no brainer for Ultra Music festival to include him in their roster of artists after this, where Garrix performed seven new tracks.
