James Bay

During their high activity in the late 1980s, the band was often compared to some famous pop kings such as the Smith. They were not always very popular among journalists and some radio producers, due to their clear anti-drugs and pro-celibacy messages, in a time when the main bands were exactly at the opposite end.

They released ‘Gold Mother’ in an expanded composition with a new keyboardist, trumpet player and violinist, and the musical journalists observed them immediately. They not only got a lot of positive reviews, but also a lot of fans and they turned into a cult band. With fans in the US and UK, they easily entered the charts.
