Biography

Alicia Keys is a talented American R&B singer, songwriter, and pianist. She was born on January 25, 1981, in New York. At the age of 7, she began playing the piano. Alicia listened to the classic music of Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart. She successfully graduated from the Professional Performing Arts School. At the age of 14, she wrote her first song “Butterflyz”. In 2001 she released the first album “Songs in a Minor”, which got a commercial success. A single “Fallin’” hit No. 1in U.S charts. In 2002 it won 5 Grammy Awards. Next year she released her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, which brought Alicia several Grammys. In 2007 her album, As I Am, again debuted at No. 1. During the first week, Alicia has sold almost 740,000 copies of it. She also gained 2 Grammys for it. Year later, together with Jack White she recorded “Another Way to Die”. Moreover, she also cooperated with Jay-z, having created a single “Empire State to Mind”. In 2016 Alicia has become one of the judges on The Voice.
