Major Lazer
Biography

Major Lazer is a trio of men who call themselves Diplo, Walshy Fire and Jillionaire. They work in electronic and dancehall music with reggae and moombahton elements since 2009. In the beginning, DJ Diplo met DJ Switch when providing sound effects at rapper M.I.A.’s events. Not tarrying for long, they invited nearly a dozen of guest vocalists and released album “Guns Don't Kill People... Lazers Do” in summer of 2009. Being very extravert persons, they worked with so many people between that year and 2013, that just naming them would require more than one page. Switch got tired of this schedule in 2011 and left. And in April of 2013 second album came out, “Free the Universe”, featuring Flux Pavilion, Dirty Projectors, Santigold, Bruno Mars and others. Despite it not selling very well, Collector's edition with remixes followed. 2015 single “Lean On” was really good however, and its video hit almost two billion views on YouTube during first year is as great proof as can be. This video is in Top 10 of most viewed music videos on this popular media platform. Of course, it was included in third album – “Peace Is the Mission”. Gold in United States and Denmark, platinum in France – this was the measure of its financial well-being.
