Kongos
Biography

Kongos (band) is a band from South Africa, which works in alternative rock, kwaito and hard rock genres. Band consists of four brothers – Johnny, Jesse, Daniel and Dylan. These folks spent their childhoods in South Africa and United Kingdom, moving back and forth. When they decided to pursue career in entertainment industry on international stage after “Lunatic” album, they relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. “Lunatic” had heavy African influences, and mix of genuine Johannesburg type of hip hop – kwaito. Only one song from album was released in digital format as separate single, that is “Come with Me Now”, and it got to the top spot of Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and received Platinum certification. While AllMusic rated album 3.5/5, on Metacritic it got aggregate mark of only 58/100. In Arizona, they recorded “Egomaniac”, second album. Epic Records took care of release, and it hit the shelves in mid-2016. Critical reception was worse than before and chart performance was mediocre at best. Decent number of other types of media used Kongos’ music. Their tracks appeared in video games “Payday 2” and “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel”. World Wrestling Entertainment’s show “Extreme Rules” and famous film “Expendables 3” used song “Come with Me Now” as soundtrack.
