Jessie J
Biography

Jessie J is a stage name of Jessica Ellen Cornish, born on 27 March 1988 and raised in London, United Kingdom. As evidenced by Adam Markovitz from Entertainment Weekly, her voice is considered one of best currently in business. As a kid, Jessica studied in Colin’s Performing Arts School, where she was cast in one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s productions. She eventually graduated from BRIT school. For about five years she unsuccessfully tried to work in a collective called “Soul Deep” and signed a few useless contracts with bankrupt studios. Luck finally was on her side only when few singles, “Do It Like a Dude” and “Price Tag” entered Hot 100. They were included in album “Who You Are”, released in early 2011. It was successful enough to convince Katy Perry to bring in Jessie J as her opening act performer on California Dreams Tour. That cooperation was short-lived though, as Jessie suffered injury in rehearsals. In 2013 and 2014 she released two consecutive albums, “Alive” and “Sweet Talker”. As for achievements, it worth mentioning that video for single “Flashlight” from latter album received nomination for best video from Brit Awards 2016. Critical response, however, was mixed to average.
