Calvin Harris
Biography

With the kind of hubris that only comes with being twenty-three years old, Scotland’s Calvin Harris launched his career with the cheekily titled 2007 album I Created Disco. The title may have been off-base, but Harris’ LCD Soundsystem-inspired electro-funk was punchy enough to catch the attention of Kylie Minogue, who enlisted him to co-write and produce two songs on her album X. In 2008, Harris broke out of the electro-pop underground with “Dance Wiv Me,” a collaboration with Dizzee Rascal that debuted at #1 on the UK pop charts. Harris’ sophomore album, Ready for the Weekend, appeared in 2009. As carefree and eager to please as its debut, it also boasts polished production skills and a range of influences from 80’s funk, French house, trance, Euro-pop, and even a smidgen of rock ‘n’ roll.
