Bastille
Biography

Bastille is a talented indie pop band from South London, formed in 2010. At first, it was a solo project, directed by Dan Smith. Later it turned into a group with Chris Wood, Kyle Simmons, and William Farquarson. The name of the band came from Bastille Day, celebrated on the same day as Smith’s birthday. Their first tracks “Flaws” and “Icarus” draw the attention of the music scene. They got a lot of fans on YouTube and MySpace. Soon they signed with Virgin Contracts. The next year Bastille released an EP “Laura Palmer”. Their popularity increased, they started to appear on many festivals, including Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight and Blissfields. The TV show “Hollyoaks” also featured their music. Moreover, the track “Oblivion” was used for Vampire Dairies Season 4, which made the group even more popular. In 2003 the world saw the band’s first studio album “Bad Blood”. It climbed to No.1 on UK Albums Chart. The guys were 4 times nominee during British Awards 2014 and won the British Breakthrough Act. That year, Bastille sold almost 5 million copies in the USA and 2.5 million in their own country.
